The job covers the whole kitchen cycle. That means preparing ingredients, cooking, plating, handling stock and keeping a clean, efficient workspace. You will cook alongside an experienced culinary team where consistency, teamwork and attention to detail are expected.
The kitchen runs mainly on lunch service, so most evenings are free, but weekend and public holiday availability is expected and occasional functions may need extra time. Remember, a genuine employer will never ask you to pay for a job offer.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Head Chef and other kitchen staff, supporting the team through busy and high-pressure periods
- Prepare the ingredients and food items needed for daily operations
- Cook menu items on appropriate commercial kitchen equipment
- Coordinate prep and cooking so service stays efficient, and assist with plating and presentation of finished dishes
- Hold consistent standards for food quality and presentation
- Support group meal preparation when required
- Monitor stock, assist with inventory control, and correctly receive, label, store and rotate food products
- Take practical action to reduce food waste
- Follow food safety and workplace hygiene rules and keep the kitchen hygienic, orderly and presentable
- Complete opening and closing procedures as required
Requirements & Eligibility
- Ability to meet relevant sponsorship requirements where applicable
- Minimum 1 year of commercial cooking experience that is relevant to the role
- Genuine, verifiable work experience you can demonstrate
- Practical understanding of food preparation and cooking techniques
- Can handle a fast-paced commercial kitchen without letting quality or efficiency slip under pressure
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- Reliable and consistent with workplace responsibilities
- An effective team member with a positive and professional attitude
- Willing to work weekends and public holidays, and available for occasional functions when required
