A high-precision CNC manufacturer with a long track record in Sydney, NSW is hiring for its evening shift, and it wants machinists who can program, set and run machines without hand-holding.

Expect 70% of the role to be setting and operating. The rest covers programming, designing work holdings and checking finished parts, on production and prototype jobs for the defence, oil and gas, infrastructure, construction and manufacturing sectors. Whatever CNC machines you know, your experience will be considered, and the employer will structure the job around the right hire.

Multiple positions are open, and you need 4+ years of recent programming and setting. The job is open to applicants already in Australia with work rights, and visa sponsorship will be considered for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set up and operate several kinds of CNC machine, including CNC Mills, CNC Lathes and a Sliding Head Lathe
  • Prepare tools, work holdings and jobs for each machining centre
  • Design work holdings for production and prototypes
  • Inspect and measure finished parts before they leave
  • Deliver production jobs alongside prototype work for customers in manufacturing, oil & gas, construction, defence and infrastructure
  • Push your CNC programming skills further as you go
  • Take charge of the machines you know from day one
  • Cover the evening shift

Requirements & Eligibility

  • 4+ years of machinist or CNC machinist experience
  • 4+ years of recent work programming and setting CNC machines
  • Comfortable setting and operating CNC machines, 70% of the role
  • Qualified in Fitting and Turning or similar
  • Experienced in CAM software programming
  • Strong computer skills; experienced in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and documents
  • Driven to learn and grow, with an A++ work ethic, a strong team spirit and no room for "not my job"
  • Works well independently and in the team
  • Candidates must have the right to work in Australia
  • Desirable: CAD-CAM proficiency
  • Desirable: Fusion360 proficiency
  • Desirable: Okuma OSP proficiency
