Climbing Arborist

Two Climbing Arborist jobs are open with a tree care business that is well established in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. Selection depends on fit, so expect your qualifications, practical background and technical skill to be looked at closely.
The work covers residential, rural and commercial sites. One day it may be routine care or reductions; the next, a technical removal or a big project. The team insists on careful planning, safe methods and good workmanship, and it keeps existing trees and plants standing where it can. Only claim experience you can verify.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess each site before work and stick to planned work and safety procedures
- Climb professionally on commercial, rural and residential jobs
- Prune trees and reduce them
- Take trees down through technical removals
- Deliver big commercial tree care projects alongside rural and residential arboricultural jobs
- Pick the right climbing, rigging and dismantling approach for every tree and site
- Keep aerial and ground-based operations safe
- Run specialist arboricultural machinery and equipment when the job needs it
- Protect buildings, infrastructure, retained vegetation and other assets on site, and keep trees and plants standing wherever reasonably possible
- Keep your climbing kit, tools, machinery and PPE in professional order
- Team up with the ground crew and other arborists to finish jobs quickly, and take part in paid training and ongoing skills development
- Answer emergency and callout tree jobs when required, keeping your safety, reliability and quality consistent
Requirements & Eligibility
- Arboriculture qualification at Level 3 or Level 4, or experience you can show is equivalent
- A proven record as a climbing arborist, competent at aerial climbing and tree work, with practical rigging and technical removal experience
- Capable of running climbing operations on your own on suitable jobs, with a strong grasp of safe arboricultural practice
- Class 1 driver's licence: essential
- Class 2 or heavy transport licence: advantageous
- Fit enough for physically demanding outdoor tree work
- Reliable, honest, professional, and strong in teamwork and communication
- Ready to complete further arboricultural training where required
- Overseas candidates holding verifiable relevant qualifications and experience are welcome, and suitable overseas applicants can get sponsorship; you must meet relevant New Zealand work visa and employer requirements
