A busy hospitality venue in New South Wales is hiring a Chef. The requirement is simple: genuine hands-on experience across multiple kitchen sections and the ability to deliver quality food consistently when service gets heavy.
You will join a professional team working from a modern, purpose-built kitchen, on a menu that combines established favourites with fresh and seasonal dishes. The venue wants proven culinary ability, strong work habits and someone who will become a reliable part of a growing kitchen operation.
Your experience must be verifiable, so prepare honest records of where you have worked.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, workplace safety, cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen
- Prepare ingredients, equipment and stations ahead of each service
- Run multiple sections such as grill, pans, fryers and larder
- Turn out classic dishes and seasonal specials to kitchen standards, with consistent quality, portions and presentation
- Modify dishes where appropriate to suit customers' dietary needs
- Inspect ingredients for quality and freshness and check storage conditions
- Track stock, assist with ordering supplies, rotate stock properly and minimise waste
- Work fast and efficiently through high-volume, time-sensitive services
- Communicate well with other chefs and kitchen staff and put forward practical ideas for menu improvements and new dishes
- Support smooth kitchen operations seven days a week
Requirements & Eligibility
- A Food Safety Certificate that is current
- Proven professional experience as a Chef
- Genuine culinary work experience that you can demonstrate and that can be verified
- Hands-on experience across grill, pans, fryers and larder
- Strong practical knowledge of how a professional kitchen runs
- Ability to hold quality and consistency through busy services, with strong attention to food quality and presentation
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures
- Understanding of stock management and waste minimisation
- Ability to work independently and contribute effectively as part of a team
- A positive, reliable approach to your responsibilities at work
- Willingness to work day, evening and weekend shifts
- Commitment to full-time employment for the required period (sponsorship consideration is available for exceptional candidates after six months of full-time employment)
