Chef

Hospitality · Panania, Sydney NSW, Australia · Full-Time · $80,000/yr

Chef de Partie wanted for a busy hospitality kitchen in Panania, Sydney. The employer needs a chef who earned their skills in real commercial kitchens and is ready to be responsible for a section inside an established team.

Be clear on one point: this is not about filling a vacancy with whoever is available. Your qualifications, past employment and practical ability will need to be demonstrated and verified. Once on board, you are expected to own your section, hold food and presentation standards through busy services, and cooperate with senior chefs and the wider hospitality staff.

The role comes with a structured 38-hour working week, modern kitchen facilities and the chance to build a career in a professional environment. As with any job abroad, be wary of anyone who asks you to pay money to secure an offer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow food safety, HACCP and workplace health and safety procedures, and keep your personal hygiene and workstation spotless
  • Own your assigned section through preparation and service, track its readiness and tell senior chefs what it requires
  • Organise mise en place every day based on service requirements
  • Cook menu items with the right commercial techniques while holding quality, portion control and presentation steady
  • Keep pace during peak and high-volume services
  • Cooperate with chefs, apprentices and front-of-house team members
  • Guide apprentices through practical kitchen tasks and established procedures
  • Handle food storage, stock rotation and general kitchen organisation correctly
  • Help daily kitchen operations run without disruption and in a professional way

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of real commercial kitchen work, including time in a high-volume hospitality operation
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification
  • Able to handle a kitchen section with limited supervision, and able to show it
  • Sharp practical cooking and knife skills, backed by knowledge of professional food preparation and service procedures
  • Delivers to quality and presentation expectations consistently
  • Your work history and experience must be open to verification
  • Qualifications and supporting paperwork must be available when required
  • Strong communicator and team player with a dependable, responsible and professional attitude
  • Composed and organised when services get busy
  • Ready to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends and public holidays included
