Key Responsibilities

  • Meet high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness, making sure kitchen practices comply with the relevant hygiene requirements
  • Prepare and cook bistro-style meals of consistent quality
  • Take charge of food quality and monitor every dish from preparation and cooking through to presentation
  • Plan food requirements, help estimate food and labour costs, and order and manage supplies as required
  • Put forward ideas for menus, dishes and weekly specials
  • Apply proper cooking methods and professional techniques
  • Coordinate food preparation with managers and with kitchen and service staff
  • Demonstrate techniques to colleagues, assist them with procedures and help train and develop team members when required
  • Manage food storage, preservation and freezing where it applies
  • Keep your workstation and kitchen organised and efficient, and keep performance and quality consistent in busy periods
  • Work well in a busy, collaborative team and support a positive, respectful and inclusive workplace

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 1 year as a professional Chef
  • Demonstrated experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Proven ability to prepare and cook quality food, backed by good practical cooking and preparation skills
  • Strong grasp of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Ability to follow established kitchen procedures and standards and keep food quality consistent during busy services
  • Confidence working in a team, with strong communication and workplace coordination skills
  • Creative thinking for menu ideas and weekly specials
  • Professional and dependable, able to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment
  • Hospitality work experience that is genuine and verifiable, plus willingness to provide supporting evidence where required
