Japanese Cuisine Chef needed for a growing hospitality team in Victoria. The operation is evening-focused.

To be considered, you should be able to show genuine experience in commercial Japanese cuisine and a record of consistent results. Skills alone are not enough: the employer wants people who are dependable, respectful, positive and committed to teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

Keep food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness to a high standard, and store and handle ingredients correctly
Prepare and cook Japanese dishes to established kitchen standards, following set recipes, methods and procedures
Complete mise en place and prep before service
Control quality, presentation and portion sizes
Handle prep efficiently during evening operations and support the team through busy periods
Help with stock preparation and kitchen organisation
Communicate well with chefs and other team members
Accept instructions, feedback and training positively and contribute to a respectful, cooperative and productive kitchen
Show up reliably and perform consistently on every scheduled shift

Requirements & Eligibility

Valid Australian work rights required; sponsorship available for the right onshore candidate if a suitable full-time position becomes available
Minimum 2 years' relevant experience, either in Japanese cuisine or in a professional kitchen
Proven practical cooking skills in commercial kitchens and a genuine understanding of Japanese food preparation and kitchen operations
Works effectively in fast-paced service and stays calm and organised under pressure
Strong attendance and reliability, and accountable for your own work
Professional attitude and sound workplace discipline
Respectful communicator and strong team worker
Positive about learning and development, willing to train and adapt to workplace requirements
Committed to a stable, long-term hospitality career
