An established hospitality venue in Victoria is hiring a motivated Chef for its busy, supportive kitchen. The venue values quality, creativity and people, and it serves high-quality bistro food.

Key Responsibilities
- Uphold strict food hygiene and safety standards, and make sure kitchen practices comply with relevant hygiene regulations
- Prepare and cook a variety of high-quality bistro dishes
- Put forward creative ideas for weekly specials and menu offerings, and assist with menu planning and development
- Estimate food and labour needs, then order and monitor food and kitchen supplies
- Hold high standards for food quality, consistency and presentation, checking dishes through preparation and service
- Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff for smooth service
- Give guidance on cooking techniques and food preparation procedures
- Help train and develop kitchen team members when required
- Keep the kitchen organised, clean and efficient, and support the team in busy periods
- Assist with food preservation, freezing and storage where required
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 1 year of relevant commercial kitchen or Chef experience
- Practical, hands-on experience cooking and preparing food in a professional kitchen
- Strong understanding of how to prepare and present food
- Strong understanding of quality control
- Knowledge of commercial kitchen hygiene and food safety standards
- Can work efficiently when a hospitality venue is busy
- Strong teamwork skills
- Strong communication skills
- Reliable, motivated and willing to take responsibility
- A creative approach to weekly specials and food preparation
- Able to work flexible shifts, weekends and public holidays included
- Positive attitude to continuous improvement and teamwork
