Wanted: a capable, committed Chef for a busy hospitality operation in Victoria, Australia.
The role goes beyond basic food preparation. You will be part of the daily running of the kitchen, covering prep, service, food standards and stock management, and you will be expected to contribute ideas for specials and menu improvements. It suits a chef who enjoys variety and handles pressure well.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and store all food in line with food safety requirements
- Maintain a kitchen that is orderly, hygienic and properly organised
- Cook and plate meals to the established quality and presentation standards
- Coordinate the food preparation needed for daily service
- Handle the full range of a diverse pub-style menu
- Prepare and execute the daily specials and seasonal specials
- Keep portion sizes consistent from plate to plate
- Deliver the same flavour and presentation standard every time
- Assist with ordering, inventory control and stock rotation
- Watch ingredient availability and cut down on unnecessary wastage
- Coordinate with the kitchen team while service is running
- Talk with front-of-house staff so meal service runs smoothly
- Contribute new dish ideas and help develop the menu
- Support other kitchen staff with preparation and service
- Keep a professional, productive approach when it gets busy
Requirements & Eligibility
- Sponsorship Available for suitable eligible applicants; candidates requiring employer sponsorship may be considered where the eligibility requirements are met
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or another recognised equivalent qualification
- Demonstrated experience cooking as a Chef in a commercial hospitality kitchen
- Practical knowledge of modern cooking and food preparation techniques, plus a strong understanding of hygiene, food safety and workplace safety standards
- Can handle multiple kitchen tasks while keeping quality up, and stays calm and efficient in high-volume service
- Good communicator with strong interpersonal skills who can work independently and still contribute to the team
- Positive, dependable and professional in work ethic
- Ready to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Willing to contribute to the wider kitchen operation
