Key Responsibilities

  • Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety rules without shortcuts
  • Cook according to set recipes, methods and operational procedures
  • Turn out dishes that meet established quality and presentation standards
  • Finish daily preparation and mise en place in line with service requirements
  • Keep taste, quality, portion sizes and presentation consistent
  • Move through kitchen tasks efficiently when service is busy
  • Work closely with fellow kitchen staff for a smooth service
  • Keep preparation areas, equipment and stations clean and organised
  • Check ingredient quality and assist with correct food storage
  • Rotate stock, reduce unnecessary food waste and help keep the right kitchen stock levels
  • Adapt to shifting service requirements and kitchen priorities, backing up senior chefs and other staff when required
  • Add to a positive, professional and team-focused workplace

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Must currently be based in Sydney
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification, plus a minimum 1 year of relevant commercial kitchen experience
  • Relevant qualifications and employment history that can be checked and verified
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidence in a professional kitchen, with practical knowledge of food preparation and commercial cooking techniques
  • Serious commitment to food quality, hygiene and presentation
  • Able to stay organised and productive when the pressure is high
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable attendance, a strong professional work ethic and willingness to work weekends and public holidays
  • Must satisfy applicable Australian immigration and sponsorship requirements
  • Sponsorship on offer for the successful eligible candidate
