Cafe Manager

Café Manager needed in Queensland. To succeed, you must be able to work the coffee machine yourself, manage people and rosters with confidence, and keep service, stock, costs and customer experience under control.

Supervising a team is only part of the job. The employer wants a strong, credible employment history, practical barista ability and the leadership to take ownership of a busy café. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards, and keep the café clean, organised and welcoming
  • Run day-to-day café operations and lead, coach and coordinate baristas and front-of-house staff
  • Work on the coffee machine yourself and keep coffee quality consistent
  • Train staff on beverage preparation, service standards and café procedures, and manage rosters so staffing levels stay efficient
  • Contribute to seasonal menus, specials and beverage selections
  • Organise live entertainment, pop-ups and private events and deal with suppliers, performers and event partners
  • Monitor inventory, place orders and keep stock at the right level
  • Track operating costs and assist with basic financial admin
  • Handle customer feedback and service complaints, build strong relationships with customers and support a positive café culture

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Current food-safety certification
  • Minimum 2 years in café or restaurant management
  • Strong, hands-on barista experience on commercial espresso equipment
  • Diploma in Hospitality (for applicable Queensland sponsorship pathways)
  • For sponsorship eligibility: minimum 3 years of Australian hospitality management experience after completing the relevant diploma
  • Able to back up qualifications and employment history with verifiable evidence
  • Proven team leadership and staff management capability
  • Strong rostering, organisational and time-management skills
  • Understands stock control, cost-of-goods and basic financial processes
  • Event coordination or menu development experience is an advantage
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Reliable and flexible about weekend and evening work
  • Valid work rights or eligibility for sponsorship
  • Work state: Queensland. Sponsorship is available for eligible candidates
