Cafe Duty Manager

A professional hospitality team in New Zealand needs a dependable, customer-focused person who takes ownership of their work. This is a hands-on cafe role covering customer service, coffee preparation, food service, cleaning, stock support and other day-to-day tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Serve customers in a welcoming, professional way, answer their product and menu questions and represent the business well at all times
Run the till for sales and customer payments
Prepare quality coffee and other beverages, and heat and serve food efficiently
Refill shelves, displays and supplies, and prepare and pack coffee products as needed
Keep standards of cleanliness and hygiene high and work areas organised all day
Pitch in with opening, closing and general cafe operations
Support colleagues during busy trading periods
Stick to food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements

Requirements & Eligibility

Must satisfy applicable New Zealand employment and visa requirements
Previous cafe, hospitality or customer service experience is preferred, and practical barista skills are a strong advantage
A track record of reliable, consistent customer service
Clear communication, a professional manner and good personal presentation
Ability to work as part of a team and confidence to complete tasks independently when required
Positive attitude, willingness to learn new responsibilities, and a strong work ethic with reliability and professional integrity
Ability to handle a busy customer-facing environment
Availability to work both weekend days or at least one Sunday
