Bar and Restaurant Manager

A leading hospitality group in New Zealand is recruiting experienced Hospitality Managers. Multiple full-time positions are open in the Auckland, Southland, Canterbury and Queenstown regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and the Gambling Act 2003, and meet all workplace safety obligations
  • Uphold liquor licensing conditions and the venue's own policies
  • Run the front of house and the wider venue every day so service is delivered without hitches
  • Oversee cash handling, financial procedures and security, and keep incident reports, venue records and daily operational paperwork in order
  • Handle purchasing, liquor stock control, inventory and the related reports
  • Draw up staff rosters that cover bar and service shifts efficiently
  • Instruct staff in responsible service and in managing customers
  • Deliver excellent customer service and keep guests and staff safe
  • Hold the venue to high standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation
  • Confirm that all equipment is serviced and working as it should
  • Drive promotions that grow sales and customer engagement, supporting management to hit business and profitability targets
  • Carry out any extra operational duties venue management assigns

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years' relevant hospitality or front-of-house management experience, plus a relevant hospitality qualification or proven industry experience
  • Duty Manager Certificate: you must hold one or be eligible to obtain it
  • Solid grounding in hospitality operations and customer service
  • Track record managing teams in a busy venue
  • Highly desirable: hands-on work with TAB and gaming/pokie machines
  • Working knowledge of liquor licensing rules and responsible service
  • Able to work full-time (30–40 hours per week) on flexible hours, including weekends, late nights and public holidays
  • Strong communicator and leader with good problem-solving skills
