Australian dealerships and automotive groups with solid reputations are looking at automotive technicians who already have an established workshop background. The roles are spread across multiple Australian states.
Be ready to prove your record. Employers want to see what you have done, where you built your skills and which technical work you are genuinely experienced in. Possible positions include Automotive Technician, Senior Technician, Diagnostic Technician, Master Technician, EV/High-Voltage Technician and Technical Specialist.
Brands and environments vary widely, covering premium European and luxury vehicles, Japanese and Korean makes, and emerging electric vehicle brands. Stay alert: a genuine employer will never ask you to pay for a job offer.
Key Responsibilities
- Find and diagnose electrical and mechanical faults
- Operate advanced diagnostic tools and modern workshop technology
- Service vehicles and complete scheduled maintenance
- Carry out mechanical repairs and replace components
- Inspect each vehicle to identify the repairs required
- Follow technical specifications and manufacturer repair procedures
- Handle modern electronic systems and ECU technology, plus EV, hybrid and high-voltage work where suitably trained
- Document inspections, diagnostics and completed repairs accurately
- Keep workshop practices safe and organised, cooperating with other technicians and workshop staff
- Produce consistent quality workmanship on all assigned repairs
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised automotive trade qualification
- Minimum five years of automotive technician experience in a relevant setting
- Background in a dealership or recognised OEM workshop
- Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge
- Proven ability in fault-finding and diagnostics
- Workshop and employment experience you can verify
- Relevant manufacturer or brand training, where available
- Advantageous: experience with ECU programming or advanced diagnostics
- Highly regarded: EV, hybrid or high-voltage experience
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a commitment to workshop safety and quality standards
- TRA Skills Assessment already completed
- Required English-language test already completed
- Supporting evidence available for your qualifications and employment history
- Readiness and willingness to relocate to Australia; suitable overseas candidates may be eligible for sponsorship
