Air-Conditioning Refrigeration Mechanic

Location: Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast, Queensland. Employer: an established commercial services organisation. Wanted: experienced HVAC and Refrigeration professionals with real trade capability and a strong track record of practical work.

Expect a wide spread of work in a structured Australian commercial environment, covering commercial air conditioning, refrigeration, coolrooms, freezer rooms, ventilation, chilled water systems and commercial catering equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose faults and troubleshoot refrigeration and air conditioning equipment
Pinpoint mechanical, electrical and refrigeration faults
Carry out installation, servicing and maintenance of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems
Service commercial refrigeration equipment together with associated systems
Complete scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
Fit and maintain freezer rooms and coolrooms
Install and maintain commercial and industrial ventilation systems, including kitchen exhaust and specialist ventilation installations
Service catering and kitchen equipment in commercial premises
Support the installation, servicing and maintenance of chilled water systems
Run system tests, commissioning and performance checks
Work from technical documentation, drawings and equipment specifications
Keep job documentation and service records in order
Cooperate effectively with other technicians and project teams
Keep professional standards on commercial and industrial sites and comply with Australian workplace health and safety procedures
Build your technical knowledge further through training and hands-on experience

Requirements & Eligibility

Relevant qualification covering Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, HVAC, Electrical or a related trade
Demonstrated hands-on work in commercial or industrial environments
Employment history that is genuine, verifiable and relevant to the position
Evidence of your qualifications, trade experience and technical skills
Strong knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration or associated mechanical systems
Practical diagnostic and fault-finding ability
Ability to work both on your own and within a professional technical team, with good communication skills and the ability to solve problems
Strong commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety
Readiness to learn Australian workplace practices and pursue continuing professional development
Transferable skills from a mechanical, maintenance, construction or manufacturing background may also be considered
Ability to successfully pass the relevant skills and employment verification process
Ability to meet applicable Australian employment and visa requirements; sponsorship is offered to suitably qualified overseas candidates, subject to verification and eligibility requirements
